The Nike SB Dunk Low Gulf is a March 2021 colorway of the low-top skate shoe that is inspired by the Porsche 917 Gulf race car. The iconic Porsche 917 Gulf was a record-breaking, low-slung race car from the 1970s that helped Porsche to wins in 24 Hours of Le Mans in back-to-back years in 1970 and 1971. The futuristic prototype race cars blue-and-orange design is mimicked on the SB Dunk Low Gulf. A shade of Blue Chill suede covers the entire upper, including the base and panel overlays. The Swoosh logo on either side of the shoe displays black trim and a black embroidered Nike logo is stitched onto the heel. The motorsports inspired 58 insignia on the lateral heel and tongue is rumored to be a reference to Club 58, a skate shop that may have played a hand in creating the design of the Gulf. Thick black laces are layered over a puffy Blue Chill mesh tongue and a white midsole and orange outsole further the models association to the German race car. Release date: Spring 2021.
